How to Get Glowing Skin Naturally

glowing skin

A common skin concern among our customers is their “dull” complexion. A glowing complexion can be created through the use of cosmetics (hello, highlighter), however, that natural vibrancy is generally what people are lusting for when they’re looking for ways to brighten their overall skin tone.

The good news is, glowing skin can be achieved quite easily. Keep reading to learn how you can achieve a brighter complexion.

1. Exfoliate

By removing dead skin cells on the surface of your skin, you reveal the brighter, fresher complexion beneath. When dead skin cells build up they can give the appearance of a dull skin tone. Regular exfoliation helps to aid in the removal of these dead cells and promotes cellular renewal. A pore vacuum such as our Femvy Blackhead Remover makes exfoliation easy, and will clean your skin like never before. See our last blog on all things exfoliation here.

2. Use Vitamin C and the Hydra Pro

Vitamin C is famous for its brightening powers. Because vitamin C is so acidic, so when applied to the skin it’s then triggered to repair itself by accelerating the production of collagen and elastin. It also sloughs away dead cells from the surface of your skin leaving it brighter and smoother. Vitamin C is a well-known brightening agent which helps to fade pigmentation and improving the overall texture and tone of your skin. You can pair this powerful serum with our Hydra Pro to deeply infuse the antioxidant into your skin and improve its efficacy by up to 300%! Learn more here.

3. Exercise

Exercise can brighten skin by increasing blood flow and providing oxygen to the skin cells. In addition to providing oxygen, blood flow also helps carry away waste and free radicals. By increasing blood flow, exercise helps flush cellular debris out of the system, similar to cleansing your skin from the inside out.

4. Avoid Hot Water

Hot water can dry out and irritate your skin, creating a dull complexion. Most people love long, luxurious hot showers, but unfortunately hot water causes damage to the keratin cells which are located on the epidermis (outer layer). This disrupts the cells, creating dry skin and preventing the cells from locking in moisture. Hot water can also make also certain skin conditions worse. Higher temperatures make it easier for the skin to dry out and can even cause you to itch.

5. Get a Massage

Massaging your face and body increases blood flow. The pressure created by massage helps move blood through congested areas, causing new blood to flow in. This boost in circulation is what gets you glowing, but you’ll see benefits in skin tone too.

6. Cut Back on Sugar

Your diet can also affect the vibrancy of your face. Sugar molecules attach to collagen and elastin proteins in the skin through a process called glycation. This process produces advanced glycosylation and damages skin in the form of fine lines, wrinkles, and dull, sallow skin!

7. Sleep!

Finally, remember to get those Zzzz! Adequate sleep can mean good skin health because when you're sleep-deprived, your body makes more of the stress hormone cortisol. Elevated levels of cortisol can lead to increased stress and inflammation in the body, hurting your skin’s quality.
